The Pomegranate Tree pendant is a dual necklace, a conversation on the duality of life and death, that complete each other. The upper part of the tree is shown by the beauty of the trunk, its brunches and fruits, whereas the lower part is made of the messy roots that dig deep into the earth, united all in one form. The upper part is sculpted in a careful way, representing the beauty of nature and the lower part is deliberately asymmetrical and erratic, in a raw manner, so as to correspond conceptually but also semantically to the meaning of this artefact. The life, on and under; the fruits?? birth and the friuts?? death. Inspired by the tangible organic composition and naturalistic form of the pomegranate fruit, the carving is completed by a frosting manifestation of rough finishing.
